Leona Mae Miculka, 87, of Hallettsville, passed away April 19, 2015. She was born in Lavaca County, TX, on November 5, 1927 to John and Albina Woytek Zak. She was a member of the Vsetin Christian Sister, and Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin.
Leona attended Hallettsville High School, followed by Southwest Texas State Teachers College, current today as Texas State University. She became a teacher, first teaching at the Shiloh School, and then later at the Bila Hora School.
Leona married Milton Miculka on August 29, 1949, and lived the rest of her adult life in Lavaca County. They celebrated their 65 anniversary this year.
Leona was a homemaker and loved to sew. Her plants and flowers were her passion. In her spare time, she loved to fish from the 2 fish ponds on their farm that she and Milton spent the first 48 years of their martial life upon.
Leona is survived by: her husband Milton of 65 years; daughter Sharon Crane & husband Tommy of Round Rock, TX; 2 step-grandchildren, Shelley and Kristen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by: her parents; infant son John; and 2 brothers, Vernon and Johnnie Zak.
Memorial Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, April 24, 2015, at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville; with Visitation starting at 9 am. Officiant: Rev. Mark Labaj. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: Vsetin Cemetery.
