Lee Roy Kahanek, 83, of Hallettsville, passed away May 4, 2016. He was born on June 6, 1932 to Frank Alois & Lillian Satsky Kahanek in Hallettsville. He graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1950. He was a life member of the National Guard Association of Texas, Secretary/Treasurer of the Government Employees Union Local 3097; member of the Defenders of Wildlife, Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Lee was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the United States Air Force and Texas Air National Guard. He received 3 outstanding achievement awards for his service as a Personnel System Manager, and 10 other medals for his honorable service.

Lee was preceded in death by: his parents and sister Dorothy Ruth Ponton.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Kubena Funeral Home; with visitation starting at 12 noon. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Donor's Choice.
