Obituary

Lee Emmett Botard, 92, of Sheridan, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Heritage Oaks Assisted Living in Conroe. He was born on Aug. 7, 1921 to A.W. and Harriet Botard, the fourth of nine children. He married Yvonne Leath Briscoe in 1942. They lived in Sheridan most of their married life and raised 5 children. He lost his beloved wife Yvonne on Sept. 25, 1975. A year later he married the second love of his life, Dorothy Nell Pittman.

Lee was in the Civilian Conservation Corp as a young man and worked in the Grand Canyon in Arizona. He later served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marines in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he worked for Goliad Corporation and then Mobil, retiring in 1984. Lee was a Deacon in the Baptist Church. His favorite pastime was hunting, fishing, gardening and ranching. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Lee is survived by: his wife Dorothy; 2 sons, Norman Lee Botard & wife Loni of Sheridan, and Mack Emmett Botard & wife Sandra of Oakwood; 3 daughters, Marilyn Leath Murphy & husband James of Sheridan, Beatrice Frizane & husband Paul of Phoenix, Arizona, and Leatrice Heinold of Louisiana; 3 step sons, Larry Pittman & wife Susan of New Caney, Donald Pittman & wife Terry of Conroe, and David Pittman & wife Melanie of Cyfair; brother Ottie Botard; 2 sisters, Ruth Kane and Dot Janak; 10 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lee was preceded in death by: 1st wife Yvonne; parents; 3 brothers, Bill, Roy, and Vernon Botard; and 2 sisters, Eva Whitley and Edna Mae Hamner.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Calvin Botard. Pallbearers: James Lee Heinold, Bret Botard, David Murphy, Brayden Murphy, Christopher Pittman, and Ike Peterson. Memorials: Sheridan Lions Club. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery in Sheridan.
