Lawrence was a veteran of WWII and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal for Luzon Campaign, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation of Japan Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Director of Texas State High School Rodeo, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Lawrence is survived by: son Lawrence J. Grubert Jr. & wife Doris of Hallettsville; 2 daughters, Sharon Grahmann & husband Fred of Rock Island, and Debie Lucke & husband Kenneth of Victoria; 2 sisters-in-law, Joyce Grubert of Yoakum, and Anne Vickers of Brenham; 8 grandchildren, Tina Stavinoha & husband Leroy, Michael Grahmann & wife Sonia, Joshua Grahmann & wife Ashley, Shari Grahmann, Brandon Grubert, Tamara Grubert, Logan Lucke & wife Ashley, and Mallory Tesch & husband Tim; and 7 great grandchildren, Amelia & Robert Stavinoha; Jordan, Alicia, Camilla, Emma and Faith Grahmann.
Lawrence was preceded in death by: his wife Ruth; parents; 3 brothers, William, John, and Thomas Grubert; and 2 sisters, Margaret Schab and Helen Moczygemba.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiates: Bishop Charles Grahmann and Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Michael Grahmann, Joshua Grahmann, Brandon Grubert, Logan Lucke, Leroy Stavinoha, and Tim Tesch. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Yoakum, Texas.
