Obituary

Lawrence Wayne Grahmann, 71, of Hallettsville passed away and went to be with the love of his life on April 11, 2019. He was born on January 19, 1948 to Alfonse F. and Dorothy Wick Grahmann in Hallettsville, Texas. He met the love of his life, Delores Ann Holik Grahmann, in Moravia. They were married on August 9, 1969 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. He was blessed with four children; Douglas & wife Sherri, Glenda Svetlik & husband Ben, the late Bonnie Michelle, and Jason & wife Laura.

Lawrence graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1967. After graduation, he enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard where he was honorably discharged in 1973. In 1968, he began his career at Alcoa in Point Comfort and retired after 33 years of service. After retirement, Lawrence was co-owner of Lavaca Feed & Fertilizer, alongside his brother Edward. In 2017, he retired from the feed and fertilizer business to enjoy the last year with his wife.

He enjoyed farming and ranching and gambling at Coushatta. He was fond of deer hunting in West Texas and Colorado, cooking and eating a great hot meal at deer camp and having a good time visiting around the campfire. After retirement, Lawrence loved watching his grandchildren compete in sports, agricultural events and was one of their biggest fans. He was a huge supporter of his grandkids at the Hallettsville Junior Livestock Show.

Lawrence was very involved in his community and was a member of numerous organizations, including; Hallettsville Young Farmers, American Legion, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Lavaca County Farm Bureau, where he was currently serving as Vice President.

Lawrence's work ethic was unlike any other. He was devoted to helping others by doing custom hay work, shelling corn, combining milo, and cooking for all the different organizations that he was involved in. He was a man of faith who was dedicated to attending weekly adoration at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Lawrence is survived by: sons, Douglas & wife Sherri and Jason & wife Laura; daughter Glenda Svetlik & husband Ben; brothers, Marvin & wife Annette, Edward & wife Patty, and Leroy & wife Helen; sisters, Marilyn Svetlik, Darlene Shimek & husband Dennis, Joyce Svetlik & husband Lawrence, and Diana Matus & husband, Allen; six grandchildren, Tyler, Cole, Jenna & Taylor Grahmann, and Kaylee & Kyle Svetlik; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Leon Matula.

Lawrence was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Delores; daughter Bonnie Grahmann; his siblings, Evelyn Grahmann, Ervin Grahmann and Theresa Grahmann Matula; and brother-in-law Johnny Svetlik.

We will all dearly miss our beloved father and Popo.

Funeral Mass Service : 10 am, Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home; with the Rosary starting at 7 pm in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
