Obituary

Lawrence Barrera, 48, of Hallettsville, passed away October 6, 2010. He was born on February 24, 1962 to Lupe & Mary Garza Barrera Jr. in Yoakum. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Lawrence moved to Houston after school, where he made his home. He was an avid gardener, loved movies with a passion, loved eights music, loved spending time with his numerous friends. He was a great listener and would lend his shoulder to anyone. His last job was Home Healthcare, where he spent time caring for others, which he loved.

Lawrence is survived by: his parents Lupe & Mary Garza Barrera Jr.; 4 brothers, Timothy Barrera & wife Tiffany, Steve Barrera & wife Kathy, Jeff Barrera & wife Jennifer and David Barrera & wife Karissa all of Hallettsville; 5 sisters, Cynthia Gates, Rachel Barrera and Peggy Barrera all of Hallettsville, Trish Fritts & husband David of Houston, and Karen Barrera & husband Larry Nordstrand of Yoakum; and numerous Aunts & Uncles, Nieces & Nephews, and great Nieces & Nephews.

Lawrence was preceded in death by: his fraternal grandparents Guadalupe & Otilla Gutierrez Barrera; and paternal grandparents Max & Elizabeth Garza.

Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 2 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Virgil Guiterrez, Larry Nordstrand, Johnnye Barrera Jr., Chris Brown, Tony Silgero, Guy Gardiner, and Luciano Perez. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert "Bob" Barrera, Zach Barrera, David Barrera Jr., Nicholas Barrera, Cody Silgero, Mathew Barrera, Logan Barrera, Lukas Barrera, Carson Barrera, Brooke Fritts, Megan Rosales, Saira Barrera, Lilly Barrera, Emily Barrera, Raileigh Barrera, Britley Barrera, Tyler Evanicky, Timmy Kehoe, Brandon Peker, Allyssa Pfuhl, Joseph Fritts, Jordan Fritts, and Wesley Gates. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): donations to the family funeral expense would be deeply appreciated. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
