Lado Hlavac, 97, of Hallettsville, passed away October 26, 2020. He was born on June 22, 1923, to John & Veronika Muhlstein Hlavac in Lavaca County, TX. He was a member of Texas Farm Bureau, SPJST, American Legion and VFW.
Lado was in World War II, serving in the US Army. He was a member of Company C, 35 th infantry, 88 th Division, in Italy. He received the Bronze Star Medal; the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, with 3 campaign bronze stars for the Rome_Arno, North Apennines and PoValley campaigns; and Combat Infantryman Badge. He was also active duty during the Korean War and Vietnam War, putting in 25 years of service.
Retired from farming and ranching, for about 35 years; and doing custom work for the public by picking corn and combine milo.
Lado is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lado was preceded in death by: his parents; 4 brothers, John, Raymond, Franklin and Willie Hlavac; 6 sisters, Annie Boehm, Alma Brosch, Agnes Holik, Mary Zappe, Vlasta Holik and Albina Hlavac.
Funeral Service (wearing masks is encouraged): 11 am, Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Kubena Funeral Home; and Visitation starting at 9 am. Officiant: Pastor Herb Beyer. Memorials: Shiloh Cemetery Association, American Legion or Donor's Choice. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery.
