Laddie graduated from St. Ludmila's Academy in Shiner. He received the rank of Specialist-4, and the Good Conduct Medal, during his active duty from Aug. 9, 1963 to Aug. 3, 1965 in the US Army, of which 18 months were in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in the 3rd Degree Council 2433 of Hallettsville, and 4th Degree Yoakum Assembly 1128, KJT society, member and past president (2003-2006) of the Czech Heritage Society, Holy Rosary Society, Altar Society of St. Mary's Church, and St. Mary's Czech Choir. He also was the Eucharistic Minister and Usher at St. Mary's Church.
Laddie is survived by: wife Evelyn of 40 years; 2-brothers, Frank Konvicka & wife Modean of Snyder, and Alphonse Konvicka & wife Betty of King Williams, VA; 5-sisters, Emily Poole of Yoakum, Louise Waligura of Bay City, Lillian Zoda of Boerne, Angie Wagner of Moulton, and Georgia Haas of Hallettsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Laddie was preceded death by: parents Laddie L. (May 15, 1982) & Mary Ann Kurtz Konvicka (Dec. 21, 1982); and Sister M. Barbara Konvicka (June 19, 1988).
Service: 10 am, Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation: Noon, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 6pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Burial: Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Jerome A. Haas, Bryan Wagner, Wilbert Etzler, Alton Christ, Jodie Hoelscher, and John Klesel. Memorials: Texas Czech Heritage and Culture Center.
