Laddie Bernard Cerny, 84, of Shiner, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in Shiner Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 9, 1923 in Gonzales, Texas to Jim A. Cerny Jr. and Emma Petru Cerny. He was honorable discharged at the end of WWII, and was a self employed as a florist.

Laddie is survived by one Aunt Estella Petru and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 cousins, Robert Petru, Alton Petru, and Leon E. Petru.

Service: 10 am, Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner. Visitation: 1 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Bob Knippenberg. Pallbearers: Daniel L. Harabis, Thomas D. Petru, Curt Meyer, Felix Cerny, Gene Cerny, and A.J. Cerny. Burial: Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: St. Paul Catholic School.
