Kay Manning, 64, of Rockport, formerly of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully, Oct. 24, 2021, with her son and twin sister by her side, at her home in Rockport, after a 16-month battle with cancer.  She was born on Sept. 1, 1957, to Howard G. & Betty Kahanek McMillan, in Hallettsville.

Kay graduated from Hallettsville High School, attended Wharton County Junior College, and moved to Victoria to begin her career in the insurance business.

Kay's son Garett Ross Manning was born in 1986, in Victoria.  He was the light of her life.  She faithfully followed Garett's many sporting activities throughout his childhood and college years.  She was his head cheerleader.

Kay enjoyed life to the fullest and one of her favorite pastimes was gambling with friends.  After she retired, she was able to settle in Rockport, with a beautiful view of the bay from her front porch.

Kay worked for many years for Farm Bureau in Hallettsville, and enjoyed relationships with her co-workers & customers.  She truly loved every aspect of the insurance business.

Kay is survived by; her son Garett Manning & fiancée Ashley Card of Austin, and her twin sister Gay O'Neill of Rockport, niece Casey O'Neill & great nephew Ty O'Neill of Oklahoma City, OK, and nephew Clayton O'Neill & wife Noelle and great nephew Davis O'Neill of Kansas City, MO.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Friday, October 29, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home, with Rosary starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Garett Manning, Clayton O'Neill, Robert Kahanek, Braden Kahanek, Kade Kahanek and Ronnie Matias. Honorary Pallbearer: Richmond O'Neill. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or donor's choice. Entombment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
