IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn
Woytek
August 6, 1921 – June 21, 2007
Kathryn worked side by side with her father and his hired hands on their ranch near Sublime, she could ride a horse as well as they and better than some. There was not a chore that she could not do. That held true for housework and ranch work, and there was an abundance of each. In addition to the work on the place, she delivered butter to many patrons throughout the area, as her family was in the dairy business.
Her life however was not without tragedy. She lost both her sons in a car accident on March 16, 1970. Although grief stricken, she and her husband went forward and adopted another son, Tramer who brought joy back into their lives. Once again, she could smile and cope with her loss, although the memories were still an integral part of her life.
Kathryn was devout Christian, being baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She taught Sunday School at Zion Lutheran Church in Sublime. Later serving as the Sunday School Superintendent. She taught daily Vacation Bible School in Sublime and Eagle Lake. She belonged to the Ladies Aid of Zion in Sublime, and served in many capacities while holding offices in the organization. While she was a school teacher at Rabb Switch, she taught the Catechism to the Catholic students. Kathryn was a member of the Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church where she was an active and valuable member. She belonged to the Christian Sisters, and also taught Bible School.
Kathryn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 230, where she served as the Chaplain, and the second vice president. She was a 60 year member of the S.P.J.S.T., and was also instrumental in getting Sublime School reunions started.
When it came to fairness and honesty, she towered above the rest. This trait was carried on wherever she went, in school with her classmates and when she taught or substituted in school. Her goal was to bring out the best in people and give them the desire to better themselves. When she retired from teaching, she immediately joined the Lavaca Co. Retired Teachers. She served as the president and vice president also receiving Awards of Distinction and Appreciation, especially in volunteer work.
Kathryn was known for her compassion for the sick or bereaved. This was shown by her concerned calls and plenitude of foods taken to them. She drove miles out of her way to take friends to joyous occasions, appointments, and shopping. Her generosity was unlimited, she also sponsored children in Guatamala.
Kathryn was also very well known for several hobbies. She enjoyed making and painting ceramics, she sold some, but gave as gifts many more. She enjoyed preparing Income Taxes for many friends, and probably most well known for her homemade bread and pastries.
Besides being a wonderful mother and homemaker, she was also a devoted grandmother to her one and only grandson, Cyler, and mother-in-law to Tammy. She enjoyed sharing her faith, wisdom and love with Cyler. Always giving him everything she had. Seeds of her kindness planted for all of our futures.
