Obituary

Mr. Julius M. Galetka, 90, of Hallettsville, died Dec. 20, 2006. He was born on May 29, 1916 to John & Theresa Mikush Galetka in Hallettsville. He was a member of the Czech Moravian Brethren Church in Vsetin, TX; S.P.J.S.T., American Legion, V.F.W, and Veteran of WWII. During WWII, he was assigned to Company A, 340th Engineer Battalion and received the Victory Ribbon; American Theater Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars for New Guinea and Luzon Campaigns; Good Conduct Medal; Distinguished Unit Badge; 1 Service Stripe; and 6 Overseas Service Bars.

Julius is survived by: 2 brothers, Hilmer R. Galetka of Hallettsville, and Emil O. Galetka of Lake Jackson, TX; and sister Evelyn Sassin of Freeport, TX.

Julius was preceded in death by: parents John & Theresa Mikush Galetka; 3 brothers, Victor F. Galetka, Edwin H. Galetka, and John J. Galetka; and sister Selma L. Grones.

Service: 10 am, Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at Czech Moravian Brethren Church. Visitation: Noon, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Prayer Service: 7 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Henry Beseda. Burial: Czech Moravian Brethren Cemetery. Pallbearers: Gary Chudej, Gregory Galetka, Larry Sassin, David Sassin, Mark Sevcik, and Ronnie Sevcik. Memorials: Czech Moravian Brethren Church or Cemetery.
