Joyce Ann Benner Hodges, 79, of Luling, Texas, died peacefully at home on January 13, 2025.  She was born in Luling, Texas, on November 1, 1945, to Buster and Essie Benner.

Joyce was a long-time beautician owning shops in Luling and Hallettsville. She made many lifelong friends and loved watching your families grow in a career she thrived in and loved. She was the kind of woman that would pay 10 dollars for lunch but leave double that in tips because she knew the waitress was a single mom from her shop. She had a heart of gold that she shared freely.

Later in life when everyone else was retiring she went on to work at Walmart and HEB. She quickly became a 5 Star General at HEB, an accomplishment she and her family were very proud of. In both places she met many new friends she cherished and loved.

Joyce was a beautiful spunky little spitfire with a sassy strong sense of humor. She was a honest tell you like it is kinda gal which endeared her to many. She is deeply missed.

Joyce is survived by:  her daughter Pamela Searcy of Luling, Texas; sister Louise Watts of Haslet, Texas; 4 grandchildren Justin, Cecil, Jessica and Logan, and 4 great grandchildren Brianna, Alaina, Neal and Cecil.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary Hodges, son Samuel Houston Evans III and her brother George Benner.

Instead of a casket spray the family would like you to bring a flower, real or artificial, that you can lay on her as you say your goodbyes.  We will make her casket spray out of your love.  Joyce loved flowers and we will make it as colorful as she was.
