They soon moved to Dayton, Texas where Jim worked as a Pharmacy assistant. They had two children; Billy James Parker and Jere' Sue (Alfano). After moving to Baytown, Texas in 1943, Jim went to work for Humble Oil, now Exxon-Mobile, and Joy became a homemaker. She loved to sew, cook and bake. She was a gifted gardener, and was a member of the Garden Club. She also loved to play bridge and dominoes and was a member of several clubs where she played almost every day of the week. She was also a regular at the Beauty Boutique. In January of 2014, Joy moved to Stevens Nursing Facility where she still played dominoes occasionally, and was named 2015 Valentine Queen.
