Mr. Johnnie C. Mitchell, 75, of Sublime, Texas, died August 6, 2006. He was born on June 23, 1931 to Johnnie Cecil & Zula Pugh Mitchell in Hallettsville, Texas. He married Pearl Gips Mitchell on January 15, 1974 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Johnnie was a member of the American Legion. He served over 15 years of active duty in the US Army. He received 2 – Overseas Service Bars; The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with "1960" device; and The Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze service star.

Johnnie is survived by: wife Pearl of Sublime (32 years of marriage); mother Zula Mitchell of Hallettsville; 2-brothers, William "Bill" Mitchell of Gonzales, Texas, and Lester Mitchell of Hallettsville; and was the beloved Uncle to Kaleb and Allison Mitchell of Sublime.

Johnnie was preceded in death by: his father Johnnie Cecil Mitchell, and brother Vernon Mitchell.

Visitation will start at 10am, Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville, with the Service starting at 11am that Tuesday. Officiate will be Rev. Larry Smith. Burial will be at Geiger Cemetery, near Sublime. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society. Pallbearers: Kaleb Mitchell, Lester Mitchell, Ray Earwood, Jeremy Judd, and Kelly Jernigan.
