Johnnie spent her early years in Sublime. After marrying, she resided in Fort Worth and raised her four children. Johnnie returned to Hallettsville in her later years where she resided until her death. While in Hallettsville, she was active in doing volunteer work at the Food Pantry, AARP Tax preparation for the elderly and lower income, Lavaca Medical Center Auxiliary, and Hallettsville Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in Hallettsville, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hallettsville.
Johnnie is survived by: 2-daughters, Barbara Gail Aldis of Austin, TX, and Linda Diane Aldis Kanthak & husband Tom of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 2-sons, Kenneth Wayne Aldis of Austin, and Ralph Pierce Aldis & wife Jerline of Bergheim, TX; brother James Howard Brooks & wife Tony of Hallettsville; sister Esther Brooks Castellow & husband O.C. of Hallettsville; 4-grandchildren, Sam Aldis Kanthak, Patrick Avery Aldis, Summer Skye Aldis, and Shyanne Vash Aldis; and nieces & nephews, Connie Jean Castellow, and Ronald Dean Castellow, Deborah Parks, and Howard Wayne Brooks.
Johnnie was preceded in death by: parents Clark Alonzo & Esther Kelly Brooks; 1-sister, Janie Lucille Pustejovsky; and ½ brother James Hartt.
Service: 1pm, Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 2pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Terry Horton. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery. Memorials: First Baptist Church of Hallettsville, or the American Diabetes Association. Pallbearers: J.C. Kelly, Bob Edwards, Joe Clark, Kenneth Aldis, Ralph Aldis, and Ron Castellow.
