IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John F.
Korinek
February 27, 1953 – September 23, 2018
John F. Korinek, 65, of Yoakum, passed away Sept. 23, 2018. He was born on Feb. 27, 1953 to Joe & Elizabeth Smolka Korinek in Hallettsville, TX. He was raised in Koerth, TX with his five brothers and sisters; Josephine DeRuiter, Vlasta Brewer, Philip Korinek, Annie Havel, and Joseph Korinek (deceased).
John joined the United States Marine Corps on April 1st, 1971 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 29th, 1974 with the rank of Sergeant. His fellow marines told him to "keep on smiling", because he had such a "can-do" spirit coupled with a cheerful disposition.
John married Janice Marie Henneke on November 30th, 1975. Janice was impressed by "his pretty blond curls" and Marine Corps Uniform. They raised 3 sons; Kevin, Westin and Derek Korinek in their quiet, country home in Hope, Texas. If they weren't at their home in Hope, they spent their free-time at John's favorite place in the world, his farm property located in Koerth. Here they raised cattle (which were basically John's large pets) and enjoyed spending time working in his garden. With each of the kids, John invested his time differently. He went hunting with Kevin, fishing with Westin, and working on cars with Derek.
John supported his family by working in the oil industry, first as a gauger and then as a gas compressor mechanic. On the rare occasion he took a vacation, he enjoyed cruises primarily to relax and eat the good food.
The Korinek Family expanded when both Kevin and Westin married their wives, Julie and Brooklyn. Later followed by three grandsons; K.J., Case, and Jaxson and one granddaughter, Carver. John loved his grandkids.
John's family would like to give special thanks to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Houston Methodist West Hospital for taking diligent care and excellent support of John.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7
