John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. He served in the National Guard, Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department, Hallettsville Knights of Columbus, Hallettsville Industrial Corporation, Expo Center Development, Appelt's Hill Gun Club, Lavaca County Flood Control Board, Hallettsville Jr. Livestock Show Committee, Elected Lavaca County Surveyor, Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, Planning & Zoning Committee, 31 years of service at the Texas State Championship Fiddlers Frolics.
John is survived by: his wife Margaret of 50 years; daughter Carol Beckner & friend Willie Cook of Victoria; 3 sons, John Henneke Jr. & wife Kim of Victoria, Martin Henneke & wife Rhonda of Hallettsville, and Kerry Henneke & wife Kristine of Victoria; brother Robert Henneke & wife Doris of Somerville; 6 grandchildren, Taylor Henneke, Heather Henneke, Hannah Henneke, Blake Henneke, Kerrah Henneke, and Kelci Beckner; and step grandchild Tyler Cook.
John was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 sisters, Gladys Schindler and Elizabeth "Betty" Henneke; and brother Matthew Henneke Sr.
Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 3 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Douglas Hruzek, Marvin Denison, David Janca, Glen Janca, Jon Henneke, Marty Patek, Josh Henneke, and Billy Perdziak. Honorary Pallbearers: Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Dept., grandchildren, and Knights of Columbus. Memorials: the Family to help defray medical expenses, Hospice of South Texas, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
