John Glenn "Glenny" Hessler

John Glenn “Glenny” Hessler, 72, of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully February 6, 2026, in Hallettsville. He was born on April 3, 1953, to Alfred J. & Annie Grahmann Hessler Sr., in Hallettsville.

Life gave John a difficult start, as he was born without the ability to walk. His parents devoted their life in providing love and care for him. He learned to contribute to his family’s everyday life by helping with chores, even sweeping and mopping independently. When he was young, he enjoyed making latch hook rugs, watching the Astros with his dad and caring for their parakeets.

John was a resident of Stevens Nursing & Rehab Center of Hallettsville for over 25 years, after both of his parents passed. His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Stevens for the care and friendship provided to John – allowing him to live his life to the fullest. During his stay at Stevens, he enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He never met a stranger.

John is survived by: his sisters, Dolores Bujnoch and Elrose Kalisek; brother Alfred Hessler Jr.; numerous nieces & nephew; and great nieces & nephews.

John was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Margaret Berckenhoff and Ronald Hessler; brothers-in-law, Alois Bujnoch, Roy Kalisek and Leroy Berckenhoff; nephew Michael Hessler and great-nephew Colton Berckenhoff.

Memorial Funeral Mass Service: 10:30 am, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, with Visitation starting at 9 am and Rosary at 10 am. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Hospice of South Texas.
