Joel B. Nelson, 58, of Hallettsville, passed away Nov. 17, 2009. He was born on Feb. 27, 1951 to J. B. & Lorrie Valigura Nelson in Dallas, TX. He married Debbie White on July 20, 1981 in Dallas. He was a Vietnam Veteran and member of Harvest Baptist Church of Waxahachie, TX.

Joel is survived by: his wife Debbie; parents J. B. & Lorrie Valigura Nelson of Hallettsville; 2 daughters, Shénna Nelson of Hewitt, TX, and Lacy Cowsert of Kentucky; step-son Michael Wooley and Step daughter Kristi Sheppard of Waxahachie; brother Jimmy Nelson & wife Margie of Glenn Heights, TX; 2 sisters, Teresa Nelson of Hallettsville and Valerie Nelson of Port O'Connor; sister-in-law Karle Nelson; and 10 grandchildren.

Joel was preceded in death by his brother Jay B. Nelson.
