Jo Erlene Lanik, 75, of The Woodlands, passed away May 10, 2014. She was born on July 7, 1938 to L. J. & Agnes Valigura Lanik in Hallettsville. She graduated in 1956 from Schulenburg High School.

Jo is survived by: Sister-in-law Lillie Konvicka Lanik, of Katy TX; nieces and nephews, Ken Lanik & wife Denise of Sugar Land TX, Marsha Lanik Steffek & husband James of Beaumont TX, Allan Lanik & wife Evelyn of Hallettsville TX, Alice Lanik Brown & husband Vaughan of Katy TX, Charlene Lanik Sauls & husband Brian of Harrisburg PA, and Lynn Taylor Morris & husband David of Victoria TX; and numerous great nieces & nephews.

Jo was preceded in death by: her parents, brother Ludwig C. Lanik, and sister Beatrice Lanik Taylor.

The family would like to thank the caring individuals at Nexus Specialty Care Center in the Woodlands for their excellent care of Jo and for their friendship they provided Aunt Jo for nearly 20 years. Jo also considered them her family.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 8:45 am, Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Allan Lanik, Ken Lanik, Andrew Lanik, Matthew Lanik, Aaron Lanik, and Vaughan Brown. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
