Obituary

Jimmy G. Sanchez, 74, of Hallettsville, passed away Nov. 27, 2009. He was born on Sept. 16, 1935 to Eugenio & Maria Guerrero Sanchez in Floresville. He served in the US Navy as a Corpsman. He married Soila Garcia on April 9, 1961. In 1965, Jimmy and Soila moved from San Antonio to begin a life in Hallettsville. He worked for many years as an x-ray technologist for Renger Memorial Hospital and continued working in this field until the time of his passing. He was a member of ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), Knights of Columbus, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John, TX.

Jimmy led a full and interesting life and was most proud of his 8 grandsons, Cameron, Jameson, Jake, Nolan, Hayden, Seth, Blaine and Joshua. When Jimmy was not working, you could find him watching his "boys" playing football, basketball or baseball. He most enjoyed being with the boys at the camp hunting and telling his "famous" stories.

Jimmy is survived by: son Paul Sanchez & wife Kelley of Terrell; 2 daughters, Bonnie Besetzny & husband Ralph of St. John, and Cindy Grasshoff & husband Steve of Hallettsville; 4 brothers, Rudy and Mario Sanchez of Floresville, Victor Sanchez of Schertz, and Louis Sanchez of Woodsboro, Virginia; 3 sisters, Mary Caro and Katie Ramirez of Floresville, and Aurora Sanchez of Austin; 8 grandchildren, Cameron, Nolan, Hayden and Blaine Besetzny, Jameson, Jake and Seth Grasshoff, and Joshua Sanchez.

Jimmy was preceded in death by: his parents; 4 brothers, Roy, Wally, Gene and Valde Sanchez; and 2 sisters, Julia Lopez and Alicia Muniz.

Funeral Mass: 11 am, Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John, TX. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Monsignor James Henke. Pallbearers (grandsons): Cameron, Nolan, Hayden and Blaine Besetzny, Jameson, Jake and Seth Grasshoff, and Joshua Sanchez. Honorary Pallbearers: John Driskoll, Lloyed Srubar, and Joey Henek. Burial: St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, St. John, TX. Memorials: USO, Hallettsville Youth Soccer, Special Olympics, or Donor's Choice.
