Jessie Bruce (Boots) Quinney, 93, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at his home in Sheridan. He was born in Markham, Texas, on September 13, 1928, to Frank and Annie Quinney. He was the fifth of six children. On January 29, 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent two years proudly serving his country. He received an honorable discharge on November 12, 1947. He then started a working career in the oil field and in 1949, his work took him to Sheridan, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Melva Dean (Cooter) Quinney. They married three months later January 6, 1950. Their 90-day romance resulted in 66 years of wedded bliss.
After spending 20 years in the oil field, Boots became a crane operator and spent the remainder of his working career in the construction business. Once retired, he and Cooter spent all their time together gardening, reading, and helping raise grandchildren.
Cooter passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the age of 82. Boots missed her every day and looked forward to the day he would be able to join her in paradise.
Boots is survived by: his children, daughter Cynthia & husband David Gohlke of Sheridan; son Darrell & wife Cynthia Quinney of Sheridan and daughter Butter Bartek of Hot Springs, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Boots was preceded in death by; his parents, wife, two brothers, three sisters, one son-in-law and one grandson.
Funeral Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Kubena Funeral Home; with Visitation starting at 12 noon. Pallbearers: David Gohlke, Bradley Gohlke, Jeremy Gohlke, Hunter Gohlke, Gary Brown and Jerry Teltschick. Officiant: Brother Henry Learn. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery, Sheridan, TX. Memorials: Charity of your choice.
