IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry James
Micek
December 20, 1946 – March 5, 2024
Jerry James Micek, 77, of Hallettsville was called home, Tuesday, March 5, 2024. He was born December 20, 1946 to Alfred and Elizabeth Brosch Micek in Lavaca County. The family moved to Victoria when he younger and he graduated from Victoria High School. He was a big brother to Bernice Carey and Stephanie Higdon. He married Lita Mae Schlebach from Six Mile on June 18,1973. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past June. He proudly served in the United States Army in Fort Polk, LA and overseas in Germany. He worked at Killebrew Dodge and retired from Alcoa in Point Comfort after 32 years as millwright mechanic.
Jerry was a practical jokester and loved making someone laugh. He also loved dancing. At any BBQ, reunion, or wedding you would find he and Lita Mae on the dance floor, especially during a Polka or Waltz. He enjoyed playing cards and dominos, watching old westerns and rodeos on TV, and driving the gator around the pasture checking on the cattle with his best friend Taco next to him. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially the holidays, kids' birthday parties, and reunions. He immediately welcomed Ashley that created a special bond. Their "dish it out" sessions made family gatherings entertaining.
A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Stevens Nursing & Rehab in Hallettsville and Hospice of South Texas.
