Jerome Stanley Pesek, 85, of Hallettsville, passed away July 21, 2023. He was born on August 9, 1937, to the late Charles & Bohdanka Pesek, in St. Mary's Community. He served 2 years in the United States Army and was stationed at Ellison Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. After serving in the army, he returned to Hallettsville and worked for Shell Oil Company for 29 ½ years before retiring in 1990. Upon retiring, he continued to live on the Pesek farm where he grew up. He raised cattle and enjoyed playing golf.
Jerome was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He also was involved with the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, KJT, Men's Acts Retreat, St. Mary's Finance Committee and St. Mary's Picnic Committee.
Jerome is survived by: 3 brothers, Daniel Pesek & wife Helen of East Bernard, Rev. Anthony Pesek and Paulie Pesek both of Hallettsville; brother-in-law Joe Janda of El Campo; 16 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces & nephews; and great-great nieces & nephews.
Jerome was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Helen Schindler and Mildred Janda; brother-in-law John Schindler; sister-in-law Anita Pesek; a nephew: and a niece.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: starting at 5:30 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home and Rosary starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Bryan Janda; Dwayne, Doug &Tim Pesek and Michael & Ronnie Schindler. Honorary Pallbearer: Jimmy Grahmann. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hospice of South Texas or donor's choice. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
