Mr. Jerome L. Dornak, 79, of Hallettsville, died May 30, 2008. He was born on May 24, 1929 to Louis J. & Albina Kutach Dornak in Lavaca County, Texas. He was a member of the American Legion and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Jerome enjoyed cooking BBQ when family came to visit him. He always was willing to drive the kids around the pasture to look at cattle. He made sure the kids had soft drinks, ice cream, and grandma's Kolaches. Jerome also enjoyed driving around checking out the area to see what shape the crops were in, and keep up with the latest oil and gas exploration. He was a frequent visitor to the local parish picnics and festivals to get some "to go" plates in his later years when cooking became difficult for him.

Jerome is survived by: nephew Kurt Sobotik & wife Vivian, and children Marla, Eric and Gregory of Cypress, TX; nephew Mark Sobotik & wife Debra, and children Bradley, Laura, and Rachel of San Antonio, and Sarah Lowance & husband Ryan of Louisville, KY; niece Susan Alexander and children Kristin and Rebecca of Sugarland, TX; niece Sandra Hajda & husband Rick, and children Reid and Kaitlin of Charlotte, North Carolina; niece Kim Anderson & husband Tracy, and son Michael of Nacogdoches, TX; niece Kay Pearce & husband Mike, and children Sidney and Kendall of Fort Worth, TX; and sister-in-law Dorothy Dornak of Nacogdoches, TX.

Jerome was preceded in death by: parents; sister Lorene Sobotik; brother-in-law Ben B. Sobotik; brother Hubert E. Dornak; and nephews, Chris and Kel Sobotik.

Visitation: 2 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 6 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home; and 2:30 pm, Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. Michael Rother. Pallbearers: Kurt Sobotik, Mark Sobotik, Eric Sobotik, Henry Muenster, Tracy Anderson, and Marla Sobotik. Burial: St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery, Worthing, Texas. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School.
