Jerelene Mae Bennetsen DeBault, 70, of Hallettsville, Texas, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, September 16, 2018. She was born in Lavaca County at home in Pilot Grove, on September 5, 1948, to Otto Hansen & Albina Lacina Bennetsen, whom she loved dearly. She had 11 siblings, 4 sisters and 7 brothers.
Jerelene enjoyed many activities, like playing baseball, camping, gardening, surrounding herself with flowers, raising chickens, spending time with and cooking for her family. She had a love for animals and was very proud to have been raised on a farm. She was a devout UT football fan and when she could, enjoyed watching them play. She was employed for many years "tooling" for Cow Country and Circle Y of Yoakum and Sweet Home. She also watched over many elderly ladies and children.
Jerelene is survived by: her husband of 50 years, Benjamin Ernest DeBault; her children, Tena Steffek & husband Douglas, and Troy DeBault & wife Lynette; grandchildren, Crystal & Trevor Steffek; step grandchildren, Kayla McAdoo and Rachel McKittrick; step great grandchild Christopher James McAdoo DeBault (C.J.); sisters, Doris McCord and Carrie Spencer; brothers, Henry, Leon, Raymond and Kenneth Bennetsen; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Jerelene was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Anne Mae Bennetsen (infant) and Helen Mereth; and brothers, Morris, Melvin and Charlie Bennetsen.
A cremation has been conducted by the Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville, Texas. There will be a memorial service and celebration of Jerelene's life for family and friends at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Hallettsville, at 5 pm, Saturday, September 29, 2018. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice
