Obituary

Jaro John Krenek, 85, a resident of Hallettsville, went to be with Jesus on December 15, 2011. He was born on May 21, 1926 to Ludvik & Mary Kahanek Krenek in Hallettsville. He was a member of the American Legion and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Jaro proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the US Army with 20 years of honorable service. He was stationed in several duty bases; Germany, Philippines, Korea, Fort Knox, Fort Hood, and Fort Sam Houston. He served as a Military Policeman in the 4th Armord Division.

Jaro also worked at Handy Andy and spent 20 years at Southeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

Jaro was an avid sportsman. He loved to fish and deer hunt. He taught his kids to love the outdoors. Each year, they would go on their annual camping trips to Canyon Lake. He was the most organized campsite of anyone, and could set-up and break down the site in record time.

Jaro was a great cook. He could make BBQ and potato salad better than anyone. When he worked at Southeast Baptist, his coworkers begged him to quit and open a restaurant. Thanksgiving was the time when everyone got together for delicious turkey and dressing dinner. His famous banana and cherry homemade ice cream will be missed this coming summer.

Jaro was a skilled farmer; his advice on cattle ranching will be sorely missed. He could look at his cows and tell you exactly when they'd be having their calves, what baby belonged to what cow, and who did and didn't like cubes. He could grow just about anything in his garden.

Jaro had a great sense of humor, many years ago; he lost the tip of his finger in a lawn mower accident. He convinced his granddaughter Laura that her toy shark bit off his finger. He never complained about anything, his outlook was always positive, and he always had a kind word for everyone. When asked how he was, he'd always say, "fine, fine, doing fine".

Jaro leaves behind many loving family members and friends who will miss him greatly until we are all together again, including his kitty that loves and misses him. He was a wonderful brother, father and grandfather, and his legacy of love and happiness will live on in those he leaves behind. We love you forever, Daddy!

Jaro is survived by: his children, Mike Krenek (Gloria), John Krenek (Pat), Mary Rayhons (George), Jimmy Krenek (Kellie), Kathy Dillard, Terri Krenek, and Patty Suplick (Bill); 13 grandchildren, Paul Krenek Jr. (Chryssa), Donna Pacheco, Brandi Pacheco, Christy Dewees (Lyle), Rebecca Krenek, Laura Krenek, Jessica Dillard, Joshua Dillard, Johnie Joe Dillard, Macy Suplick, Chris Rustin, Shawn Rustin, and Melody Rustin; 8 great grandchildren, Betsy Krenek, Lyle J. Dewees, Payton Buchanan, Logan Fierro, Desiree Rustin, Diedra Rustin, Anna Rustin, and Cory Rustin; and 1 great great grandchild.
