Obituary

Janice Sue Rodriguez, 79, of Hallettsville, was called home to her Lord's side on March 14, 2018. Janice Sue was never known as Janice. From her earliest memories she was always just Sue. Her brother Don called her his "Suzy Q" and so Sue it was for life. Sue was born on July 21, 1938 to J. O. and Lottie Webb of Itta Bena, Mississippi, the last of six children. She was married to Rev. Melvin Zornes on June 4, 1958 and had three children: Elizabeth (Becky), Stephen, and Deborah. She later married Moises Rodriguez. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Old Moulton Baptist Church.

Sue was an accomplished pianist and singer, homemaker, Sunday School teacher, secretary, and bookkeeper just to name a few of her endeavors. One of her greatest pleasures came in studying and teaching the Bible. She also enjoyed playing games. Bingo, dominoes, checkers, Uno, just about anything. And she was very competitive, hating to lose more than just about anything. She also enjoyed good food, both cooking it and eating it. But her greatest pride and joy came from her family, from her five siblings to her eleven great-grandchildren; she loved and talked about her family the most.

Sue is survived by: her daughter Becky Zornes of Hallettsville, TX; her son Steve and wife Debbie Zornes also of Hallettsville; her granddaughter A. Nicole and husband Mark Fulton of Phoenix, AZ, granddaughter Stephanie and husband Craig Roddy of Victoria, TX; grandson Reid Zornes of Phoenix, AZ; and great-grandchildren Fiona, Faelyn, Kara, Evan, and Conor Fulton of Phoenix, Jocelyn, Brooke, Jedidiah, and Benaiah Roddy of Victoria, and Remington and Tucker Denham of La Grange, TX.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters, her husbands and daughter Debbie.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville; with visitation starting at 9 am. Honorary Pallbearers: Reid Zornes, Mark Fulton, Craig Roddy, Evan Fulton, Jedidiah Roddy, Conor Fulton, and Benaiah Roddy. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas or Donor's Choice.
