Obituary

James (Jim) Philip Fairman, 81 of Hallettsville, Texas went to be with The Lord on January 14th, 2018. He was born on January 20th, 1936 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Linford and Jane Fairman, his wife Susan Fairman, and his son Michael Lowrimore. At a young age, Jim moved to Borger, Texas, where he attended high school.

Jim went to college at Lamar University, where he played football. He later attended The University of Texas, where he received a Law Degree. He served in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged in 1962. Jim was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity.

He married Susan Fairman on November 26th, 1971, and they raised 2 sons, David and Michael Lowrimore. They moved from Houston to Sweet Home in 1976, and the family truly enjoyed living on their farm. They raised cattle and had a very large garden. He wanted his sons to be raised in a small town environment, rather than a big city. Jim maintained his law practice in Houston for some time. He got a pilot's license and flew his small airplane from Hallettsville to Houston. He said one of the happiest days of his life was when he sold that airplane.

In 1991, they moved from the farm to enjoy the city life of Hallettsville. Jim eventually moved his law practice to Hallettsville, and he enjoyed being a lawyer in a small town, as opposed to Houston. Jim loved travelling, and he and Susan were fortunate to travel all over the world.

He was a great friend to many people, and he was very involved in St. James Episcopal Church. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and he instilled that spirit in his sons. Jim served as President of the Lions Club in Hallettsville in 2003 and 2004.

He was affectionately known as Papa Jim by his grandsons. His grandsons were a great source of joy for him and Susan.

Jim is survived by his son David Lowrimore, his wife Kelley, and his grandsons Matthew and Nicholas, all of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathryn Blanchard and Mary McLarty, his nieces Carolyn, Sarah, Joan, and his nephew John.

The family thanks everyone who prayed for and comforted Jim during his illness. Special thanks to Hospice of South Texas, Hallettsville Rehab and Nursing Center, Liz Nunnelly, and Angel K Bordovsky.
