James Douglas Catto, 47, of Hallettsville, passed away July 8, 2018. He was born on January 9, 1971 to Wallace A. & Clara Segelquist Catto Jr. in Galveston, TX. He married Lynn Hill on December 31, 2013 in Hallettsville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville.
James was a family man that loved his wife, kids and grandkids. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especial being on the boat with his family in Lolita. He loved fishing and hunting and camping. Whenever family and friends came over, you were almost guaranteed to see him outside at his pit cooking something up for his guests. When he was younger, he enjoyed working on old cars and making them run again. Anything that had to do with woodworking, he was the man for the job, anything from houses to cabinets to throwing together a toy for his little man, he could build it. He loved ranch work, milking cows, working cows, building fences and plowing the fields.
James is survived by: his wife Lynn; son Taylor Catto of Hallettsville; 2 step-sons, Brien Phillips and Dennis Phillips both of Hallettsville; daughter Kelly Catto of Hallettsville; step-daughter Meredith Shaffer & husband Thomas of Hallettsville; 3 grandchildren, Ashlyn, Shyanne and Colton Shaffer of Hallettsville; and numerous nephews.
James was preceded in death by: parents and brother John Catto
Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, July 12, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Wednesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Jess Davenport, Perry Haynes, Charles Haynes, Thomas Shaffer, Ed Biehunko and Keith Dvorak. Honorary Pallbearers: Brien Phillips, Dennis Phillips, Colton Shaffer, Taylor Catto and Bart Reynolds. Officiant: Rev. Melanie Monroe. Memorials: Any Colon Cancer organization or the donor's choice. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
