James (Jim) Bujnoch, 79, of Hallettsville, passed away on April 13, 2024. He was born on August 30 1944, in Hallettsville, Texas, to Jim & Jenovefa Bujnoch. He attended Saint Joseph Catholic School in Yoakum until the 5th grade and then attended Sacred Heart Catholic School graduating in 1962. He attended and graduated from the University of Houston in 1966. He married Ruby Muhlstein Bujnoch on June 26, 1965, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Koerth, Texas.
Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2433, 4th Degree Sir Knight in Assembly 1128, Past Grand Knight of Council 2433, Hallettsville Lions Club, and founding member and President of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Beefmasters Breeders United, Natural Gas Guild, Northeast Gas Association, Mississippi Gas Association, Tennessee Gas Association, Southern Gas Association, National Energy Services Association, Houston Energy Association, Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and Board member of the Kentucky Gas.
Jim spent over 40 years in the natural gas pipeline industry beginning with Trunkline Gas Co. in 1968, before joining Tenneco in 1969. He held various positions with Tenneco's pipeline group including President of Tenngasco Inc. and an Officer of Tenneco Energy. After Tenneco's energy business was acquired by El Paso in 1996, he remained with the company until his retirement in 2009. After retirement Jim continued his involvement in natural gas business doing consulting work.
Jim split his time between his Ranch in Hallettsville and his home in Houston with most his time being spent at the Ranch tending to his Beefmaster cattle. He enjoyed looking after his cattle and "working on his John Deere tractor".
Jim survived by; his wife Ruby, son James Jr. (Jimmy), his loving cats Brandy and his rescue cat OC (outside cat), and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by: his parents; brother Gene Bujnoch; sister-in-law Helen Bujnoch; sisters, Dorothy Svetlik, Valerie Harbus and Gertrude Lawrence; and Dr. Gary Huffman.
Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; with Visitation starting at 9:30 am; and Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Chase Svetlik, Trevor Haas, Zach Bujnoch, Josh Van Cott, Ethan Svetlik, Huston Haas, Hayden Haas and Holt Haas. Honorary Pallbearers: fellow brothers of KC Council 2433. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School, Knights of Columbus #2433, Sacred Heart Alumni Association or donor's choice. Burial: St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Koerth TX.
