Irene F. Kubecka Cook, 85, of Hallettsville, passed away Aug. 11, 2013. She was born on Feb. 2, 1928 to Louis A. & Frances Kahanek Kubecka in Lavaca County, TX. She married Edwin G. Cook on Feb. 3, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville.

Irene is survived by: 4 sons, Robert Cook of Hallettsville, Larry Cook & wife Patricia of Katy, Dennis Cook & wife Annice of Driftwood, and Jerry Cook & wife Jerline of Angleton; brother Lee Roy Kubecka of Hallettsville; 2 sisters, Lorraine Capak of Hallettsville and Evelyn Ingram of Moulton; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by: her husband Edwin; parents; and 3 brothers, George, Louis, and Henry Kubecka.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Melanie Monroe. Pallbearers: Robert Cook Jr., Kevin Cook, Marcus Vaugham, Shawn Zak, Bo Zak, and Darrel Ingram. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery. Memorials: American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Donor's choice.
