Irene S. (Golsch) Carley, 84, of Alamo Heights in San Antonio, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. She was born on Nov. 24, 1927 at 12:30 pm, on Thanksgiving Day, to Theo A. & Mary B. Hessler Golsch. She was a member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church in Alamo Heights.

Irene attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1945. She attended Durham's Business College in San Antonio. She was owner of Carley Insurance Agency. She was a past president and past editor of the Alamo Heights Chamber of Commerce.

Irene is survived by: 3 brothers, Hilbert Golsch & wife Evelyn of San Antonio, S.E. Golsch & wife Mary of Hallettsville, and Ted Golsch & wife Lyda of Bulverde; 3 sisters, Evelyn Cernoch of Weimar, Gertrude (Gertie) Shimek & husband Roman of Hallettsville, and Beatrice (Bea) Wyatt & husband Hubbard of Hallettsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by: her parents; brother-in-law August Cernoch; and a great great nephew.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Joe Inglett, Dennis Golsch, Gary Cernoch, Greg Shimek, Donald Shimek, and Kirk Schneider. Memorials: Heart Association or Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
