Rene married Oscar L. Barta on April 15, 1950. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. She also volunteered at the Friench Simpson Memorial Library in Hallettsville. She loved to dance, read, and work crossword puzzles.

Rene is survived by: husband Oscar L. Barta; 2-sons, Mike Barta of Yoakum, Texas and, Tim Barta & wife Julia of Katy, Texas; 2-grandsons, Matt and Mark Barta; 2-sisters, Frances Wendler & husband Carl of Schulenburg, and twin-sister Rosalee Gaskamp & husband Perry of Hallettsville.

Rene was preceded in death by: son at infancy; parents Joe C. & Magdalena Pauler Brossmann; 3-brothers, Edgar G. "Brass" Brossmann, Joe C. Brossmann Jr., and Gene F. Brossmann; and 2-sisters, Lillian Fowle and Doris Shaffer.

Service: 10 am, Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 3 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Burial: St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Schulenburg, Texas. Pallbearers: Matt Barta, Mark Barta, Dale Pesek, Michael Malinovsky, Bill Brossmann, and Dan Brossmann. Honorary Pallbearers: the Nephews. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, or Friench Simpson Memorial Library.
