IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ignac B.
Krejci
October 9, 1925 – September 14, 2009
Ignac, at the age of 20, served for 27 months in the US Army during WWII. He served with General George S. Patton in France and fought many battles. Ignac received the WWII Victory Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal; Army of Occupation (Germany) Ribbon; and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze service stars for the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns.
In 1947, Ignac met Vanice Cervenka at a dance at the Wagon Wheel in Sweet Home, TX. It was love at first sight and they were married June 7, 1948 in Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville. They moved to Houston and he worked as a Brick Layer for 42 years. As an apprentice bricklayer he placed 8th in National and 2nd in State competitions. In his career he worked on many high rise buildings in downtown Houston as well as building their family homes in Houston and Hallettsville.
Ignac always used his bricklaying to help the community. He built religious grottos for St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church and for K of C Council 4577, as well as the pavilion bathrooms for K of C Council 2433. He also helped build a barbeque pit for K of C Council 4577 where many delicious steaks were cooked for numerous charitable events. His love of barbequing has carried over to the Krazy Krejci Kookers and all the fun the entire family has enjoyed for many years at the Fiddlers Frolics. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., BAC (Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen), St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Koerth, and life member of the Knights of Columbus.
