Hubert Joseph Smolik, 77, of Hallettsville, passed away Dec. 29, 2017. He was born on Sept. 6, 1940 to Victor J. & Annie Ulcak Smolik in Worthing, TX. He married Iris Jean Adamek on April 26, 2003 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Sweet Home, TX. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Hubert was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed deer hunting. Before his health began to decline, he could usually be found checking cattle with his jeep on one of his farms and on Saturday night he and Iris could be found dancing at Mustang Hall. He loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his family dearly, especially his nieces and nephews and spent much time with them working on the farm, hunting and on other outings. Hubert was a prankster and always had a joke to tell. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Hubert is survived by: wife Iris; three step sons, Dale Dolezal & wife Jewel of Shiner, TX, Glen Dolezal & wife Karen of Friendswood, TX, Norman Dolezal & wife Jacqueline of Fulshear, TX, and step daughter-in-law Nancy Dolezal of Austin, TX; brother Victor J. Smolik of Sweet Home; 3 sisters, Lillie S. Janak of Hallettsville, Irene Bollom of Houston, and Ann Cartwright of Houston; seven step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Hubert was preceded in death by; his parents, step son Carl Dolezal, sister Hidwig Mozisek, and brother Julius R. Smolik.
Memorial Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Sweet Home. Officiant: Rev Matthew Huehlefed. Memorials: Donor's Choice.
