Mr. Hubert A. Hermes, 78, of Hallettsville, died March 8, 2007. He was born on Jan. 17, 1929 to August & Ida Etzler Hermes in Hallettsville. He married Lelia Hermes on June 23, 1951 in Morgan, Colorado. Hubert was a veteran of WWII and received the World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal in Japan. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home, ALCOA 25 year Club, American Legion Post in Sweet Home, and V.F.W. of Hallettsville.

Hubert is survived by: wife Lelia of 55 years; daughter Cynthia (Victor) Mozisek of Sealy; 5-sons, Bert Hermes of Lake Jackson, Michael (Jane) Hermes of Duetschberg, Richard (Jayme) Hermes Point Comfort, Keith (Jana) Hermes of Sugarland, and Kevin (Mischelle) Hermes of Port Lavaca; brother August Hermes Jr. of Victoria; sister Rosalie Berkovsky of Sweet Home; 17-grandchildren, Melissa (Pete) Almquist, Brian (Erin) Mozisek, Jillian Hermes, Tricia Hermes, Richie Hermes, Reed Hermes, Tanner Hermes, Scott Mozisek, Bradley Mozisek, Tallen Hermes, Heath Hermes, Wes Hermes, Blake Hermes, Regan Hermes, Garrett Hermes, Stefanie Hermes, and Joseph Tschatschula; and 4-great-grandchildren, Lily Rose, Anna Marie and Katie Faye Mozisek, and Elise Faye Almquist.

Hubert was preceded in death by: parents August & Ida Etzler Hermes; 4-brothers, Alfred, Alfons, Paul, and Henry Hermes; and sister Agnes Janacek.

Service: 2 pm, Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation: 1 pm, Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home. Wake Service: 7 pm, Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Charles Sonnier. Burial: Koerth Catholic Cemetery, Koerth, Texas. Pallbearers: Victor Mozisek, Bert Hermes, Michael Hermes, Richard Hermes, Keith Hermes, and Kevin Hermes. Memorials (In Lieu of Flowers): donations to Queen of Peace Catholic Church or Hospice of South Texas of Hallettsville.
