Obituary

Mr. Hubert A. Bludau, 87, of Hallettsville, died January 16, 2007. He was born on October 30, 1919 to Joseph B. & Bernadina Grahmann Bludau in Lavaca County, Texas. He married Ethel Claus Bludau on September 22, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Hubert spent 3 years, 9 months in the US Army Air Corps during WWII at Nettles Air Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received the rank of Corporal and received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.

Hubert was a rancher and retired from Mobil Oil Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 230.

Hubert is survived by: wife Ethel of 59 years; 3-sons, Carl H. Bludau & wife Rudie Kay of Victoria, Everett A. Bludau & wife Pam of Hallettsville, and David J. Bludau & wife Joyce of Victoria; 2-daughters, Janet R. Hornischer & husband Ronnie of Sugarland, Joan A. Rodgers & husband Luke of Conroe; brother William Bludau of Hallettsville; 2-sisters, Hildagarde Borah of San Antonio, and Rose Mary Etzler of Hallettsville; 11-grandchildren, Timothy Bludau, Bradley Bludau, Jeremy Bludau, Meaghan Bludau, Garrett Bludau, Tiffany Bludau, Brandon Bludau, Vanessa Bludau, Jeffrey Hornischer, Haley Hornischer, and Adam Rodgers; and 3-great-grandchildren, Madison and Laney Rodgers, and Patrick Bludau.

Hubert was preceded in death by: parents, Joseph B. & Bernadina Grahmann Bludau; 2-sisters, Martha Kocian and Helen Bonorden; and 4-brothers, Aloysius, Carl, Joe Jr., and Alphonse Bludau.

Service: 1 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: Noon, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Rosary: 7 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiates: Rev. Celestino Say and Rev. Brian Heyer. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or School Operation Fund, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Pallbearers: Timothy Bludau, Bradley Bludau, Jeremy Bludau, Jeffrey Hornischer, Adam Rodgers, Brandon Bludau, and Garrett Bludau. Honorary Pallbearers: Grover Gross, Paul Harttermann, Gus Werner Sr., Franklin Billimek, L.T. Biehunko, Franklin Meyer, Murray Krause, and Sam Defore.
