Obituary

On a beautiful fall morning, Howard Glen Dolezal Sr., our Dad, Poppa, Popo and Great-Grandfather, made his journey home on October 2, 2025, at the age of 96.  He was born on October 30, 1928, in Hallettsville to Charlie & Corinne Anderson Dolezal.  As a young boy, he attended Pagel Settlement School through the eighth grade.  At the age of 12, he started working at a service station on the corner of First and La Grange Streets, where Glen's Packing Co. is located today.

Glen married Margaret Smolik on June 14, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas.  They were married for 71 years and blessed with four children, Donna, Susan, Glen, Jr. and Harold.  Together, Glen and Margaret owned and operated Glen's Packing Co. and Meat Market.

As a man of service, Glen dedicated himself to serving God, his family, his workplace, and his community.  As a Christian, he served Sacred Heart Church as an usher, Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the picnic committee.

Glen enjoyed life, celebrating birthdays and holidays with his family as well as playing dominoes.  He and Mr. Bill Gray were the Texas State Domino Tournament Champions in 1957.  He enjoyed deer hunting at the ranch in Vienna and always looked forward to the opening day of the season and was ready to bag the "big buck".  As a rancher and businessman, he enjoyed attending area auction barns and purchasing cattle to feed for the packing company.  Each day, he liked nothing better than going to the meat market, putting on his red apron, and serving customers.

Glen served the community of Hallettsville for many years as a city councilman, a bank director for First National Bank, and as a member of the Golden Crescent Committee.  He was a member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus.

Glen is survived by:  his daughters, Donna Treptow and Susan Dolezal; sons, Glen Jr. & wife Theresa and Harold & wife Pam; his beloved grandchildren, Eric Pringle (Johanna), Jake Pringle (Vicki), Robin Treptow Farmer (Mark), Nathan Treptow, Aaron Treptow, Tyler Pringle (Ashley), Kasey Dolezal, Parker Dolezal (Dana) and Chase Dolezal (Shelby); 18 great-grandchildren; sister Frances Dolezal Ringo; and sister-in-law Irene Dolezal.
