Obituary

Hilmer R. Galetka, 95, of Hallettsville, passed away December 21, 2022.  He was born on September 25, 1927, to John & Theresa Mikush Galetka, in Hallettsville.  He attended Boethel School and Baldwin's Business College.

Hilmer enlisted on January 10, 1946, at Fort Sam Houston, TX, serviced with Company A, 2 nd Basic Training Battalion.  He was honorably discharged on May 17, 1946, from Madigan Hospital Center, Fort Lewis, WA.

Hilmer married Gaye Ann Fahrenthold, on November 22, 1965, and were married for 57 years.

Hilmer worked as a parts manager for Jackson Farm Machinery Co. and Paul's Supply until his retirement.  He also helped his wife wit the Day Care for children in their home.

Hilmer played the violin with the band, Lavaca County Playboys for many years & South Texas Playboys.

Hilmer is survived by his wife Gaye, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Hilmer was preceded in death by:  his parents; 5 brothers, Julius, Emil, Edwin, Victor & John Jr. Galetka; and 2 sisters, Evelyn Sassin and Selma Grones.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Monday, December 26, 2022, at Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin; Visitation starting at 12 noon at the church. Pallbearers: Ronald Sevcik, Mark Sevcik, Rodney Leer, Neal Schmidt, David Sassin, Gregory Galetka, Jared Steffek and Ross Grones. Officiant: Rev Dr. Mark Labaj. Memorials: Vestin Czech Moravian Brethren Church Memorial Fund or donor's choice. Burial: Czech Moravian Brethren Cemetery.
