Hilda Gonzales, 91, of Hallettsville, passed away July 2, 2014. She was born on March 31, 1923 to Francisco & Simona Salinas Soliz in Goliad, Texas. She married Marcos Gonzales on June 9, 1946 in Yorktown, TX. They lived in East Bernard, Eagle Lake, and later in Sublime Texas. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

As a young girl she worked in the cotton fields and helped raise her brothers and sisters. She loved working in her flower beds & raising her chickens. She loved cooking tamales at Christmas time and sewed many quilts through her life. She was an awesome wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She had many friends & many of her friends called her Mom. She was a great care giver to anyone who needed it. She enjoyed sitting around and drinking coffee. She was loved by many and will be missed.

Hilda is survived by: 3 sons, Frank Gonzales & wife Rosa of Sublime, TX, Roy Gonzales & wife Margaret of Missouri City, TX, and Joe Gonzales & wife Norma of Alvin, TX; 2 daughters, Irene Quintanilla & husband Jose of Richmond, TX, and Margret Hill & husband Gary of Mesquite, TX; sister Linda Salazar of California; 16 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.

Hilda was preceded in death by: husband Marcos; parents; 3 sons, Rey, Ray, and Rudy Gonzales; daughter Margarita Gonzales; sister Frances Gonzales; and 2 brothers, Benny and Jose Soliz.

Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 12:15 pm, Sunday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rosary starting at 1:30 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Rocky Gonzales, Jose Quintanilla Jr., Russell Gonzales, Frank Gonzales Jr., Johnny Gonzales, and Jeremy Santillan. Honorary Pallbearers: Monica Gonzales and Bee Gonzales. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Donor's choice.
