Herbert "Doc" Hinze, 86, of Sheridan, passed away Sept. 9, 2018. He was born on Mar. 1, 1932 to Herbert & Lydia Petzolt Hinze Sr. in Washington, TX. He married Bessie Alice Balusek on Feb. 20, 1953 in Odem, TX.

Known too many as Doc or Jr. he grew up fast after his father passed away. He quit school and worked to help his mother raise his siblings. Working in the oilfield was his passion. He was so proud of traveling to Iraq twice to drill wells. He also loved wolf, coon, and hog hunting. He traveled many miles to hunt and compete with his dogs. It was nothing for him to have 50 dogs at a time.

Doc is survived by: 4 daughters, Rida Chovanetz (James), Cheryl Orchard (Clarence), Vickie Arndt, Tammie Hruzek (Bubba); son Darryl Hinze (Pam); 14 grandchildren, Michelle, Jason, Jefferey, Rebecca, Nathan, Paul, Matthew, Brittaney, Haley, Courtney, Megan, Barrett, Helena and Emalina; 17great-grandchildren, Corey, Celeste, Brianna, Jase, Gwyn, Blythe, Kylie, Constance, Colton, Jacob, Olivia, Jonathan, Haylee, Caleb, Zachary, Lilah, and Annabelle; 2 brothers, Charles Hinze (Ruth) and Wilbert Hinze; and sister Peggy Correll (Wayne).

Doc was preceded in death by: his wife Bessie Alice; parents, and son Herbert Wayne "Herbie" Hinze; one brother David Hinze; one sister Nita Hodge and infant half-brother Arnold Ray Boenker.

Funeral services: 10 am, Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville, Texas. Visitation: 6 pm to 8pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: James Vavrusa, Ronnie Kainer, Wiley Eckols, Darryl Tesch, Shannon Owers, Buddy Brocker, and Bubba Hruzek. Honorary Pallbearer: Danny Munoz. Officiant: Pastor Jared Stillions. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery, Sheridan, Texas. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas, Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, Sheridan Lions Club or Donor's choice.
