IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herbert August
Etzler
October 29, 1924 – October 18, 2017
Herbert August Etzler, 92, of Hallettsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. He was born in Hallettsville on October 29, 1924 to the late Alfred & Anna Etzler.
Herbert enjoyed the outdoors, riding his 4-wheeler, checking the cattle with his dog "Freckles", fishing and hunting. He was always so proud of his garden and his Satsuma tree, and would share the vegetables and fruit he grew. He enjoyed eating barbecue and a good meal cooked by Georgie. He was a former employee of Whitley Construction crew.
Even though his hands and legs were crippled by arthritis, he would surprise you with what he could accomplish. In July 2016, he became a resident of Hallettsville Rehab & Nursing Home, due to a blood clot in his leg. Through all of his suffering, he would tell us "Jesus had to suffer too". We will truly miss dad but will forever cherish his memories.
Herbert is survived by: his wife Georgie of 67 years; his children, Barbara Patek of Katy, Sandra Migl & husband Paul, Diane Kallus & husband Joseph, and Gary Etzler & wife Dolly, all of Hallettsville; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sister Victoria Wagner of Schulenburg.
Herbert was preceded in death by: his parents; son David Etzler; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.
