Obituary

Mr. Henry Frank Etzler Sr., 86, of Hallettsville, died November 24, 2006. He was born on August 14, 1920 to Alfred George & Anna Christ Etzler in Hallettsville. He married Annie Henke Etzler on January 15, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Hallettsville. He was a carpenter by trade and later in life he worked for Pearl Distributor.

Henry was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. During WWII he as a Private First Class as an Anti-Tank Crewman in Company A, 825th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (EAME) with 4 bronze campaign stars for Northern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns; Good Conduct Medal; Victory Ribbon; 1 Service Stripe; and 3 Overseas Service Bars.

Henry is survived by: wife Annie Henke Etzler of Hallettsville; 5-sons , Henry Etzler Jr. of Port Lavaca, Texas, Robert Etzler of Hallettsville, Daniel Etzler of Hallettsville, Kenneth Etzler of Hallettsville, and Michael Etzler of Hallettsville; 4-daughters , Mary Ann Berger of Shiner, Texas, Charlene Miller of Hallettsville, Dolores Ludwig of Hallettsville, and Anita Hermes of Hallettsville; 1-brother Herbert Etzler of Hallettsville; 3-sisters , Emma Bujnoch of Hallettsville, Josephine Anders of Schulenburg, Texas, and Victoria Wagner of Schulenburg; 23-grandchildren ; 1-step-grandchild ; and 23-great-grandchildren .

Henry was preceded in death by: parents Alfred George & Anna Christ Etzler; 2-brothers, Joe and Herman Etzler; 2-sisters, Mary Henke and Annie Etzler; and 1-son-in-law Daniel Hermes.

Service: 10:30 am, Monday, November 27, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: Noon, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 6 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home, and 10 am, Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiates: Rev. David Berger, and Rev. John Peters. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jimmy Berger, Ernest Berger Jr., Thomas Berger, Jeffrey Miller, Ryan Etzler, and Jason Etzler. Honorary Pallbearers: Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas, or Sacred Heart Church.
