Obituary

Henrie Mae Patek, 89, of Hallettsville, passed away on Feb. 9, 2012.  She was born on March 18, 1922 to Henry & Annie Prasek Hruzek in Hallettsville.  She married Charles "Chuck" Patek on July 11, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.  She was a member of Catholic Daughters of Americas, K.J.Z.T., American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Henrie loved playing the card game of bridge with her friends, and spent countless hours entertaining her close friends in the Hruzek house on Main Street.  She spent many years working throughout her life.  She helped her brother Harry and father Henry, both Pharmacists, managing the Hruzek's Pharmacy on the town square.  Many good times were spent in that store.  She also devoted many years of her life being a teacher's aide at the Vysehrad School.

Henrie Mae attended grammar school at Sacred Heart School in Hallettsville. She then transferred to Hallettsville High School graduating in 1940. She was selected as the most beautiful girl in her Senior Class. Henrie was quite the musician, as she played saxophone in the High School Orchestra. Her favorite instrument was the piano though. She spent countless hours reading and playing her favorite music at her home on Main St. After high school Henrie Mae attended and graduated from Baldwin Business College in Yoakum, Tx.

Henrie was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved her religion and church.  She spent many hours leading rosary before mass.  She loved to read novels, and always had to have the latest greatest book from the Hallettsville Public Library.  The librarian would usually set aside the new books under the counter so Henrie would get first dibs on them.  She also liked taking lengthy vacations in the summer time.  Many weeks were spent with her family and cousins, the Bucek's, in Galveston on the beach or hanging out at the Hawkin's Cottages

We love you Mom, and you will be missed tremendously.  You are at peace now with the Lord God.

Henrie is survived by:  her husband Chuck; son Mike Patek & wife Tammie of Victoria; daughter Margaret Quinn & husband Robin of Edna; and 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Waters of San Antonio, Breeann and Mikayla Patek of Victoria.

Henrie was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Harry Max Hruzek.
