Helen Marie Schulte, 90, of Hallettsville, died Aug. 3, 2008. She was born on March 28, 1918 to Guy A. & Thresia Sitka Greer in Lavaca County, Texas. She married William F. Schulte on Jan. 2, 1937 at St. Mary's Catholic Church near Hallettsville. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Helen is survived by: 2 sons, Herschel Schulte & wife Linda of Hallettsville, and Billy Schulte & wife Debbie of Victoria; 3 daughters, Lavonne Needham & husband Boyce of Gonzales; Magdalen Steffek & husband Victor of Hallettsville, and Cathy Rains & husband Mike of Georgetown; brother Johnny Greer of Hallettsville; 2 sisters, Mary Bujnoch of Hallettsville, and Evelyn Spann of Victoria; daughter-in-law Bernice Schulte of Hallettsville; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by: husband William on Aug. 11, 1978; son Dale Guy Schulte; 3 brothers, one at infancy, Raymond 'Rusty' Greer, and Herbert Greer; 4 sisters, one at infancy, Josephine Vana, Lenora Morisak, and Annie Svoboda; and 2 grandsons, Quentin Wayne Schulte, and Robbie Lee Steffek.

Service: 10 am, Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church near Hallettsville. Visitation: 1 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 7pm, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home; and 9:30am, Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Dan Schulte, Travis Schulte, Ronnie Steffek, Chris Steffek, Steven Greenwell, and Matt Michal. Memorials: American Cancer Society, or Charity of your Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
