Obituary

Helen Marie Etzler, 83, of Hallettsville, passed away September 26, 2010. She was born on October 23, 1926 to Peter J. & Christina Belicek Kristek in Lavaca County, Texas. She married Herman C. Etzler on October 26, 1948 in Hallettsville. She was a member of K.J.Z.T. and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Helen loved being with her family. She especially enjoyed holidays and special occasions when everyone was home. She always made sure there was enough food for everyone and that no one left hungry. She loved to cook and bake, and her turkey and dressing and cinnamon rolls were always favorites. Sundays were always a happy day of visiting for her. Her home was a special place for her grandchildren. They loved spending time there and she enjoyed having them. Helen was a kind, gentle, sharing, and sweet lady. She was an inspiration to her family.

Helen is survived by: 3 sons, Allen Etzler of Katy, Dennis Etzler & wife Doris of Houston, and Donald Etzler & wife Lisa of Hallettsville; 2 daughters, Jeanette Albrecht & husband Calvin of Hallettsville, and Karen Clark & husband Gary of Hallettsville; 2 sisters, Georgia Etzler and Evelyn Henke of Hallettsville; 8 grandchildren, Christie Albrecht-Roberts, Shelley Sunderman, Dawn Gabaldon, Darren Etzler, Austin Clark, Steven Clark, Jonathan Etzler and Ashley Etzler; and 5 great grandchildren, Eve Albrecht-Roberts, Kayla Sunderman, Lacey Jo Gabaldon, Justin Gabaldon and Sadie Clark.

Helen was preceded in death by: her husband Herman; parents; and 5 brothers, Herman, Jerome, Eddie, Joseph and Pete Kristek.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 7 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home; and 9:30 am, Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Austin Clark, Steven Clark, Darren Etzler, Jonathan Etzler, Brandon Roberts, Coy Sunderman and Marty Gabaldon. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
