Obituary

Hedwig A. Opela Studeny DeHart, 81, of Shiner, passed away July 20, 2013. She was born on Aug. 26, 1931 to Alois & Sophie Janak Opela Jr. in Lavaca County, Texas. Many fond memories were made while growing up with her brothers, Joseph "Sodie" and Raymond. She attended Stacy and Wied Schools. She was a member of KJZT, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home.

On April 13, 1948, she joined hands in marriage with Edwin Studeny. Together they raised two sons, Robert and Gregory. Hedwig and Edwin held hands for 26 years, until the Lord called Edwin to heaven.

Three years later, on June 10, 1978, Hedwig again found love. She then married Henry DeHart. After several years of togetherness, Henry became ill and departed.

Although losing both of her sons, Hedwig's faith remained strong. She took comfort in the visits from her grandson, Gregory Jr. and great grandson, Derek.

She had a passion for flowers, especially lilies and orchids. Sitting on the patio and visiting with friends and family was time well spent. Watching and feeding the birds while caring for her cats, brought her great joy. Baking was also a favorite hobby. She was always eager to try a new recipe from the various magazines she read.

Heddy's laugh will truly be missed.

Hedwig is survived by: grandson Greg Studeny Jr. & friend Maritza Gonzalez; great grandson Derek Studeny; brother Raymond Opela & wife Patricia; sister-in-law Cecilia Opela; numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Hedwig was preceded in death by: 1st husband Edwin Studeny; 2nd husband Henry DeHart; 2 sons, Robert Studeny and Gregory Studeny Sr.; parents; and brother Joseph Opela
