September 19, 1920 – September 17, 2009
Heddy loved baking and was the owner of "Heddy's Bakery" for many years. This brought her the title of "Kolache Granny" in 2002 for the Kolache Festival in Hallettsville. Hedwig also enjoyed her dogs and cats, gardening, her flowers, Dallas Cowboys, and piecing and quilting many heirloom quilts. Never complaining, she brought laughter to the gatherings with family and friends. She also enjoy her Christmas Lights in the Festival of Light, were she would win every year.
Heddy is survived by: her daughter Jeanette Cobb of Hallettsville; daughter-in-law Becky Greer; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Harrell and Kenneth Greer; and 3 great grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, and Molly Greer.
Heddy was preceded in death by: her husband Herbert; parents; 2 sons, Wilbert "Humphrey" Greer and Robert "Booger" Greer; son-in-law H. G. Cobb; 2 sisters, Mary T. Janak and Georgia Janak; and 4 brothers Louis, Fred, Robert, and Victor Melnar.
Funeral Mass: 2 pm, Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7:30 pm, Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. Michael Rother. Pallbearers: Joe Fred Melnar, Dennis Melnar, Daniel Melnar, Patrick Janak, Hubert Janak, Alex Vana, Gilbert Morisak, and Roy Schaeffer. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
